Santa Ana Mater Dei sophomore guard Gary Franklin Jr. gave a clinic this week on how to make free throws. He made all 22 attempts in games against Bellflower St. John Bosco and Orange Lutheran.
Franklin’s story of coming back from a football injury that severed a nerve in his left hand when he was 13 years old to become one of the top young basketball players in the Southland is already inspiring, and his play keeps getting better.
Mater Dei is 20-0 and still succeeding while 6-foot-10 Travis Wear recovers from a torn muscle.
