Another high school football coach has apparently burned out in the seeming prime of his career.

This time it’s Tony DiThomas of Arroyo Valley, according to this hot of the blog report from the Prep Dog. DiThomas, 54, is the school’s only coach in its seven-year history, but apparently wants to limit his duties to the classroom next fall.

‘I just want to relax for a while now,’’ DiThomas told the Dog.

Let me give you my translation: Playing babysitter to a bunch of football players for a stipend that pans out to about $2 an hour isn’t worth my time and energy anymore. I want to start enjoying my afternoons for a while.

Just another reason why the medium age of high school football coaches seems to shrink every year.
