No shocker out on the Frontier -- after its hair-close showdowns this past fall, four players from Santa Clara and Bishop Diego are sharing the Frontier League’s top honors.
Santa Clara RB Cierre Wood and Bishop Diego QB Christian Winnewisser were named co-Offensive Players of the Year and Santa Clara LB David Ortiz and Bishop Diego’s DB Aaron Skinner were named co-Defensive Players of the year.
It’s too bad the league coaches couldn’t come up with a clear-cut winner for each category because nobody likes a tie. Plus, Santa Clara proved it’s the better team by the slimmest of margins thanks to its 42-41 league victory over the Cardinals and its 20-14 overtime win last week in the Mid-Valley Division final.
