Mitchell Report’s message: Don’t be like these guys

Heroes crashed down today. Into dust. Into disgust. Into disgrace. Clemens. Bonds. Pettitte. Sheffield. Gagne. Eighty-six names, 86 frauds, according to The Mitchell Report, which snipered one Major League chemical-user after the next.
The report could -- and should -- rock the majors, the minors, down to college to high schools to sandlots, to each and every kid who wants to be a star in any sport. Its message is irrevocable and just plain loud: Athletes who use performance-enhancing drugs cheat the fans, the game and, most importantly, themselves. And, simply, don’t be like them -- these guys are not heroes.
