The coaches from Encino Crespi and Anaheim Servite were acting like best friends before their Pac-5 Division semifinal game at the Home Depot Center in Carson. Of course, Servite Coach Troy Thomas used to coach at Crespi, and many of his former assistants are still at Crespi.
But kickoff time has arrived, and a true all-out family feud is about to begin. ‘I hope we give you a show,’ Crespi Coach Jeremiah Ross said.
Servite fans outnumber Crespi fans in the early going, but Crespi students are getting pretty loud. The bagpipers have started playing, with the teams coming onto the field.
Stopping D.J. Shoemate of Servite is the key to a Crespi victory, combined with sophomore quarterback Bryan Bennett not committing any turnovers.
