Carson Coach Michael Christensen wore a happy grin that was more relief than jubilation.

But, in part because of soggy field conditions because of the rain, the Colts (11-2) never put Dorsey (9-4) away, and needed two critical defensive stands -- one at the one-yard line in the second quarter and one at the five-yard line in the fourth quarter -- to keep the Dons from tying the score or taking the lead.

‘It was a typical Carson-Dorsey game,’ Christensen said. ‘Very physical, kind of old-school football. I never thought one touchdown would stand up. But I had talked to our guys this afternoon, and we thought defense would be the difference.’
