Lakewood brings thrills and kills in volleyball

That time is here -- football craziness. Something else is here as well: the Lakewood Lancers -- yes, volleyball. Prepare, but be prepared to drive.
This will be a good one, but it’s not around the corner.

Lakewood will battle for the Division I regional crown at 7 p.m. Tuesday against host Clovis Buchanan. Exciting? Indeed. Near Fresno? Indeed.

The Lancers have a trio of thumpers: Jessica Thomas, Jessica Orozco and Taylor Hollis, all posting double-digit kills in the five-game semifinal victory over La Costa Canyon.

The winner advances to the state Division I final at 5 p.m. Saturday at San Jose State.
