St. John Bosco Coach Kiki Mendoza had said he thought his unranked Braves were ready for their game against Servite, the No. 6 team in the Southland, according to The Times.
Apparently he was right. The Braves broke through to score first, on a five-yard run by quarterback Keith Price with 4:25 to play in the first quarter.
That’s the way the quarter ended after Servite standout D.J. Shoemate ran the ball to the one-yard line but fumbled it away to the Braves’ Tyree Toomer in the final seconds.
