So this is how it’s going for the best team in the state.

Mater Dei QB Matt Barkley has been sacked for the first time this season, with 5:37 left in the half. Of course it was DE Blake Ayles who accomplished the feat. Barkley recovered his fumble though, which is the only thing that has gone right.

Earlier, Alex Pemasa intercepted a Barkley pass at midfield, which led to James Rammelsberg’s 32-yard field goal. Rammelsberg missed a 35-yard attempt with 13 seconds left.

At halftime, Orange Lutheran leads, 17-0, and now it’s easy to see why Monarchs Coach Bruce Rollinson was so worried about these guys.
