Canyon‘s run-blocking specialist, lineman A.J. Wallerstein, recently received a scholarship offer from UC Davis, according to Scout.com. This latest offer joins a healthy list of others from prestigious schools such as Yale, Harvard and the Air Force Academy.
The article also says Boise State and Mississippi are interested in the 6-foot-4, 280-pound lineman.
And who wouldn’t be interested in this guy?
Wallerstein heads up a talented lineman contingent at Canyon that has played an integral role in the development of QB Sean Gavin and the Jordan Ferguson-led run attack. Wallerstein is definitely one of the most talented (and intelligent) OLs in Southern California and I’m sure a couple more offers will be hitting the table before the season is done.
We’ll see if Wallerstein can work anymore of his linebacker-halting magic this week when Canyon (4-4, 2-1) takes on a defensively-hardened Saugus squad (7-1, 3-0) in a critical Foothill League showdown on Friday.
