No, the Elvis isn’t on the ballot in Minnesota. But a wannabe-Elvis is.

A perennial Minnesota gubernatorial candidate named ‘Ole Savior’ announced that he selected an Elvis impersonator, Todd ‘Elvis’ Anderson, for his running mate.

Why?

‘Lots of people like Elvis,’ he tweeted.

Fair enough. But it was a controversial pick. Some worry that having the name Elvis on the ballot might give the duo an unfair advantage.

Over who? The Barney Rubble candidacy?

Whatever. It’s short-lived. A spokesman for the secretary of state told the Associated Press on Friday not to get too shook up about it. They’ll let it slide.

What’s Elvis’ platform? Maybe a peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwich on every plate?

Sadly, no. He doesn’t really appear to have one. But we agree with Minnesota blogger Hart Van Denburg, we admire his transparency.

‘Let’s be honest, even if I’m not elected, the publicity may help my career as an entertainer,’ Elvis wrote on his ‘Lt. Governor’ page. ‘Plus, I will have more fun running for Lt. Governor than any of my opponents.’
