Sound bite of the morning comes from Obama senior advisor David Axelrod.
Appearing on ‘Good Morning America,’ Axelrod was asked by George Stephanopoulos for his thoughts on Florida Gov. Charlie Crist’s decision to run as an independent in Florida’s U.S. Senate race.
‘I think it’s interesting. Crist was three years ago sort of a golden boy of the Republican Party, vice presidential possibility,’ Axelrod said. ‘They recruited him for this Senate race and now he’s been run out of the party. It really speaks to the way the party is moving to the right.’
Then comes the sound bite: ‘I mean we have a big tent. They have a lean-to.’
Twitter users jumped on it. Reactions were mostly predictable.
Davidkevans says the liberal media is at it again: ‘GMAGeorge doesn’t even attempt to be fair & balanced with Axelrod: ‘We (dems) have a big tent, they have a lean-to. George: ‘OK. Thanks.’’
No way, says TimJGraham : ‘On GMA, G-Steph set up Axelrod to trash GOP on Crist: ‘We have a big tent. They have a lean-to.’ Tell it to Stupak!’
And maybe it’s just us, but we think CateyeMinty sounds a bit like David Spade in ‘Joe Dirt’: ‘We have a big tent, they have a lean-to now -- and he didn’t fit under it. DANG !!!
