In case anyone had any doubt, California is Barack Obama country.

The California secretary of state’s latest count shows that Obama had amassed 3 million more votes in California than John McCain. As of Tuesday night, 7,641,850 Californians voted for Obama to 4,633,304 for McCain and Sarah Palin.

Nationally, Obama’s vote spread is 8.5 million. Bob Mulholland of the California Democratic Party notes that California accounts for more than a third of Obama’s popular-vote margin.

Mulholland also notes that Al Gore received 1.29 million more votes in California than George W. Bush in 2000. John Kerry received 1.24 million more votes than Bush four years ago.
