Opinion: A first daughter squares off against a fabled pol

A once hard-to-imagine pairing of campaign surrogates occurs later today in one of the nation’s most distinctively named communities, King of Prussia, Pa.

Neither Hillary Clinton nor Barack Obama can make it to the annual spring fundraising reception for state Democrats. But the two rivals for the party’s presidential nod both will be well represented.

Clinton has dispatched her daughter, 28-year-old Chelsea, to represent her interests. Obama’s flag will be hoisted by perhaps his best-known endorser, 76-year-old Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts.

Cost of admission to witness the no doubt good-natured jousting between this odd duo is a mere $100. In case you happen to be in the area, the gathering lasts from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. (EDT) at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge Hotel.
