The 2009 Horse of the Year, Rachel Alexandra, has become a mommy.

Rachel Alexandra gave birth Sunday to a 125-pound colt by Curlin, who was the Horse of the Year in 2007 and 2008.

The colt has a white star similar to his mother’s. He was born at Stonestreet Farm in Kentucky.

According to the farm’s website, Stonestreet Farm manager Gary Megibben reports all is well with both mare and foal and that, “Rachel is a natural mother, and took to the colt immediately.”

The 2010 Horse of the Year, Zenyatta, is expected to deliver her foal in March or early April.
