With Baltimore sweltering for a second straight day -- the midday temperature was 102 degrees and the heat index was expected to reach 115 -- Angels Manager Mike Scioscia elected to have some of his regulars spend at least part of Saturday in the relative cool of the dugout.

Rookie first baseman Mark Trumbo was out of the lineup, sitting in favor of Russell Branyan. And Torii Hunter was the designated hitter. Bobby Abreu took Hunter’s spot in right field.

‘A lot of guys on our team have been playing an awful lot of baseball,’ Scioscia said. ‘We’ll probably look to get a couple of guys out of there [Sunday].’

Meanwhile Peter Bourjos was reactivated from the disabled list and started in center field. Bourjos, who was sidelined with a tight hamstring, will likely rest Sunday to see how his leg recovers. Mike Trout is expected to start in his place.
