Michelle Wie is one of 15 players parked at one-under par at the Kia Classic as the first round continues. Wie is through seven holes. Duke graduate Amanda Blumenherst continues to keep a one-shot lead over Sandra Gal of Germany. Blumenherst shot a seven-under 66.
Cristie Kerr, the world’s top-ranked American, finished with a one-over 74 that has her tied for 56th so far. Kerr was hurt by a double-bogey six on the par-four fourth hole. Kerr had begun the day with two birdies but after her disastrous fourth hole she never found her way back among the leaders.
