The Dodgers signed Juan Uribe away from the Giants, so who will the Giants turn to at shortstop? Would you believe Derek Jeter?

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Giants contacted Jeter’s agent on Tuesday to see if Jeter has any interest in coming to the Giants since the shortstop’s negotiations with the Yankees have hit a standstill.

‘Every team will have to make a read as to whether it’s real, whether there’s a chance to get him,’ an executive from another club told the Journal . ‘Nothing’s going to come of it. He’s going to sign back with them, I’m sure.’

Brian Sabean, San Francisco’s general manager, was vice president of player development when Jeter was drafted in 1992, so there is some history there.

What could be worse as a Dodgers fan than a Yankees legend playing shortstop for the Giants. The Dodgers’ two most hated rivals, all wrapped up in one player.
