The injury that kept the Ducks’ Teemu Selanne out of much of the third period in a 4-3 loss to Columbus on Friday at the Honda Center was a ‘sore groin,’ Coach Randy Carlyle said.
Selanne’s return was announced as questionable, but he did not re-enter the game.
Though groin injuries can be troublesome, the update probably inspired a sigh of relief a season after Selanne, now the 15th-leading goal-scorer in NHL history, missed parts of last season with a broken jaw and broken hand.
