Tiger Woods, who has pretty much shunned the outside world since news of his multiple infidelities surfaced almost a year ago, recently started tweeting.
He reserved the handle @TigerWoods in June 2009, but didn’t grace the public with his first tweet until Wednesday. It said: ‘What’s up everyone. Finally decided to try out twitter!’
He now has 229,852 followers.
His second tweet: ‘Yep, it’s me. I think I like this twitter thing. You guys are awesome. Thanks for all the love.’
Woods seems to be making an attempt to change his image. The same day he wrote his first tweet, an op-ed piece he did for Newsweek was published.
In the essay, he wrote: ‘Golf is a self-centered game, in ways good and bad. So much depends on one’s own abilities. But for me, that self-reliance made me think I could tackle the world by myself. It made me think that if I was successful in golf, then I was invincible. Now I know that, no matter how tough or strong we are, we all need to rely on others.’
