8:39 p.m. update:
A dispute erupted in Antonio Margarito’s locker room when a member of Pacquiao’s camp who was permitted in the room, said he saw a bottle of an ephedra-containing substance. The man, Billy Keane, said he didn’t see Margarito take the substance but reported it to Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach, who asked the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to conduct a pre-fight test for the banned stimulant.
That request was denied, and it’s uncertain if Texas will test Margarito after the bout. Texas did no pre-fight tests for drugs.
Margarito, of course, was unsettled before his January 2009 fight in Los Angeles, when Shane Mosley’s trainer found plaster-hardened inserts in his hand wraps. The inserts were confiscated and Margarito lost by ninth-round TKO.
