Just had to go ahead and tease Clipper guard Eric Gordon -- just a little -- by saying this ankle injury was a ruse to get out of the team’s charity golf tournament on Wednesday.
To his credit, he laughed.
‘I’ll be there,’ Gordon said. ‘This is not severe.’
Gordon sprained his right ankle late in the second quarter of the Clippers’ loss to Sacramento on Tuesday night at Staples Center. He did not return, finishing with seven points in nearly 16 minutes. Teammate Blake Griffin hurt his ankle by stepping on Paul Millsap’s foot on Saturday, and that’s how Gordon got hurt, landing on an opponent’s foot.
‘I was about to get ready to blow past somebody and I stepped on their foot,’ Gordon said. ‘It’s just a coincidence. I think everybody will be fine. Everybody will be back playing by Thursday.’
