Ducks’ Teemu Selanne breaks jaw against Boston

The Ducks’ Teemu Selanne, playing only his third game since returning from a broken left hand, suffered a broken jaw Wednesday when he was hit by a teammate’s point shot that was deflected by a Boston player’s stick.

‘Obviously he will be unavailable to us for a number of days, weeks, here going forward,’ Ducks Coach Randy Carlyle said after the Ducks’ 4-3 victory. ‘He broke a bone in it. We’ll have to see -- it will be surgically repaired tomorrow. We’ll have to see what kind of time frame they’re going to give us with it.

‘The puck hit the bottom of somebody’s stick and then hit the ice and bounced back up. It’s kind of one of those things you very rarely would see. It’s unfortunate for Teemu and unfortunate for us.’
