The way the young Kings are playing so far this young season is beginning to draw attention around the NHL. After escaping with a 4-2 win over the Kings tonight at Madison Square Garden, New York Rangers Coach John Tortorella and center Chris Drury said they believe the Kings could be on the verge of a breakthrough.
‘They have a lot of talent,’ Drury said. ‘You can tell they have been stockpiling draft picks. They are starting to come into the league now.’
Added Tortorella: ‘They have built their team as they have gone through some tough times. They are a quick team and they pass the puck well.’
There’s belief in the Kings dressing room too.
‘Definitely,’ captain Dustin Brown said after the game with the Rangers. ‘Another thing in regard to what’s different this year, we came in after this game and we realized it was a good game for us. I think we’re all comfortable with everything that happened tonight. It just didn’t go our way.’
The Kings get another challenge Thursday night when they visit Detroit to play the Stanley Cup finalists.
‘We have to forget about [New York] and focus on Detroit,’ Brown said
