Lakers backup center DJ Mbenga didn’t play Wednesday night in the team’s exhibition game against the Golden State Warriors at the Honda Center in Anaheim because of a hip flexor.
Mbenga had practiced Tuesday for the first time in five days, but he said after Wednesday’s shoot-around that the injury flared up again.
Mbenga said he shut it down so that he can be healthy for the start of the regular season Oct. 27 against the Clippers at Staples Center.
