SAN ANTONIO -- Zach Randolph wants out.
Just another fun day in Clipper Nation, right?
Not quite. Someone posing as Zach Randolph, using the handle ZBO50, went onto Twitter, posting this missile: ‘i want out y’all. any ideas? lets marbury this (bleep) up’
The real Randolph was not thrilled by the development. Shortly before Friday night’s game here against the Spurs, Randolph said Clippers assistant GM Neil Olshey called his agent in the afternoon to ask what was going on. The laid-back Randolph was angry earlier but by the time I talked to him he was making jokes about it.
‘That’s just crazy,’ he said. ‘They put it right there after I had a good game against New York. It isn’t true. It’s BS somebody would do something like that. But it’s just like MySpace. I’ve got 20 [fake] MySpace accounts and I don’t [have] a real MySpace account myself.’
Randolph’s teammates were teasing him a little later in the locker room, saying he is so old school he doesn’t even text message. He declared that he likes to use the phone and they were laughing and teasing him.
He did get me to laugh in the hallway when he talked about the Internet, saying: ‘The only thing I get on the computer is to look at dogs. That’s it.’
Me: ‘Dogs?’
Randolph: ‘Dogs and cars. I’ve never been on MySpace. Nothing.’
Oh yeah, there’s other Clippers news. Baron Davis is sick and won’t play and rookie Mike Taylor will be starting at point guard.
