SAN ANTONIO -- Well there was bound to be more Clippers news and it didn’t take long at all.
The seemingly star-crossed Marcus Camby just injured his left ankle and needed assistance leaving the court to go back to the locker room.
With 9:02 remaining in the first quarter, Camby was battling the Spurs’ Tim Duncan for a rebound when he sustained the injury and fell to the floor. The team termed it a sprain and said he would not return to the game. X-rays were negative.
Already the Clippers were missing point guard Baron Davis, who is sick to his stomach and also has an ailing right calf. Talked to Davis before the game in the locker room and he said he might have food poisoning.
As for the way Camby hobbled off, or for that matter couldn’t hobble off, it did not look good. Which about sums up this season.
After one quarter: Spurs 39, Clippers 19.
