AP: Judge likely to exclude Bonds’ positive steroid tests

The Associated Press is reporting that the U.S. District Court judge who’ll preside over Barry Bonds’ trial is likely to exclude the three positive steroid results from 2000 and 2001, before he broke the single-season record for homers with 73.

Judge Susan Illston said unless there is direct testimony tying the urine samples to Bonds, she will exclude that evidence from his trial, scheduled to begin March 2, the AP reported from San Francisco.

But Illston also said she was inclined to admit into trial a tape-recorded discussion about Bonds’ steroid use between his personal trainer, Greg Anderson, and Bonds’ longtime friend, Steve Hoskins, who recorded the session.
