What happened to the resurgent Boston Bruins today on their home ice is worth a look, even if you are a Bruins fan. The opponent? The (ex-Kings coach) Andy Murray-led St. Louis Blues, who have the worst record in the Western Conference and had lost nine of their last 10 road games.

With one second left in the game, St. Louis center David Backes took the game to overtime after hitting an airborn puck into the back of the net past superb goaltender Tim Thomas.

Thomas, who before today’s game led the league in save percentage and was second only to Steve Mason of the Columbus Blue Jackets in goals-against average, appeared to have no chance on that final shot. The goal by Backes completed an unlikely comeback by the Blues that left the Boston crowd stunned.

The Blues then won the game in a shootout, 5-4. Advice: fast-forward to around the 4-minute mark.
