Seve Ballesteros, the five-time major golf championship winner who has been hospitalized since early October, had another operation today in Madrid. The surgery drained fluid from his brain.
Ballesteros, 51, had surgery to remove a malignant brain tumor Oct. 24 and had been released from intensive care Nov. 18.
A hospital official wouldn’t say whether the surgery, which involved implanting a valve in his brain, indicated that the golfer had taken a turn for the worse.
Doctors also repaired a bone defect arising from one of the procedures Ballesteros has undergone since the original surgery.
He was back in the intensive care unit and listed in stable condition.
