Lots of green for Kings defenseman Matt Greene

Updating what we reported earlier about the Kings signing defenseman Matt Greene to a five-year contract extension. Here are the numbers:

Greene’s new contract, which runs through the 2013-14 season, is worth $14.75 million, for an average and cap hit of $2.95 million.

That’s not a bad raise over the $1.25 million he will earn this season, the final one of his current contract.

Think of what $14.75 million will buy in his hometown of Grand Ledge, Mich. Maybe the entire place?
