SUNDAY

The vampire strikes back! Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) prepares his revenge against vamp-in-chief Russell (Denis O’Hare), and Sookie (Anna Paquin) may be ready to move on without Bill (Stephen Moyer), in the “True Blood” season finale. (HBO, 9 p.m.)

The Phoenicians sailed it, the Greeks went to war on it, and the Romans claimed the entire body of water as their own. From its sandy shores to the Pillars of Hercules, the “Mysteries of the Mediterranean” are explored in a new special. (Discovery, 10 p.m.)

MONDAY

For a California girl, look no further than “90210.” But for a “Gossip Girl,” you’ll need to journey from New York’s Upper East Side to Paris, which is where Blair (Leighton Meester) finds herself as the drama opens its fourth season. (KTLA, 8 and 9 p.m.)

TUESDAY

Fashion! Turn to the left! Fashion! Turn to the right! Ooh, fashion! “How I Met Your Mother’s” Neil Patrick Harris — not David Bowie — hosts “Fashion’s Night Out 2010,” a multi-city celebration of all things sleek, stylish and sartorial. (CBS, 10 p.m.)

WEDNESDAY

Jimmy Smits disrobes! Now that we have your attention, a clarification: The actor portrays a Supreme Court justice who hangs up his judge’s garb and hangs out his own private-practice shingle in the new legal drama “Outlaw.” (NBC, 10 p.m.)

The forecast calls for more boozing and schmoozing as “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” the off-color sitcom set in a neighborhood bar, returns for its sixth season. Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Katlin Olson and Danny DeVito star. (FX, 10 p.m.)

FRIDAY

The Force keeps getting stronger with the return of the animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” But frankly, we’d like this show a whole lot better if just once someone would look at the diabolical Chancellor Palpatine and say, “Surely, you can’t be Sidious.” (Cartoon Network, 9 p.m.)

SATURDAY

There’s no love lost, big or otherwise, in the new made-for-cable drama “The 19th Wife,” about a murder within a polygamist sect. Patricia Wettig (“Brothers & Sisters”), Matt Czuchry (“The Good Wife”) and Chyler Leigh (“Grey’s Anatomy”) star. (Lifetime, 9 p.m.; also Mon., 9 p.m.)
