ā€˜Gleeā€™sā€™ Matthew Morrison dropping debut album in fall

Matthew Morrison, best known for his role as Will Schuester on ā€˜Glee,ā€™ will enter the studio shortly to begin recording his debut album, scheduled for release in fall 2010.

Fans of Morrison know the 31-year-old is no stranger to musical theater and has had roles in Broadway productions such as ā€˜Hairspray,ā€™ ā€˜South Pacificā€™ and ā€˜The Light in the Piazza,ā€™ which landed him a Tony nomination.

The singer-actor is scheduled to release the album through Mercury Records, home to Duffy and the Noisettes.

While a solo album from Morrison is welcomed over at Show Tracker, hereā€™s to hoping itā€™s less Micheal Buble and more Justin Timberlake-Robin Thicke-Jon B. ā€“ Morrisonā€™s take on ā€˜I Wanna Sex You Upā€™ is on repeat.

Itā€™s hard to imagine that Morrison will be the only ā€˜Gleeā€™ star to ink a deal. Before landing the role of Mercedes, Amber Riley had an ill-fated audition for that other mega-hit show on Fox. Iā€™d like to believe Riley and Jennifer Hudson have grabbed dinner and drinks and had a major ā€˜in your face, Simon & Co.ā€™ laugh-fest.

Morrison is nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor -- Television Series Musical or Comedy for his role in ā€˜Glee.ā€™ The 66th annual Golden Globe Awards telecast airs at 5 p.m. PST Sunday on NBC.

In the meantime, fans can get their fix of Morrison with two ā€œGleeā€ soundtracks and the DVD box set, ā€˜Glee -- Volume 1: Road to Sectionals,ā€™ all of which are in stores now.
