‘Project Runway’: Kara Saun, where is she now? Dressing ‘America’s Best Dance Crew’!

Remember when Kara Saun was caught up in all that drama about free shoes on ‘Project Runway’ in 2004-2005? She practically invented product placement on the show, making all the Sturm und Drang about her models’ footwear seem sort of ironic now, given that the series has become a veritable billboard for TRESeemé, Bluefly and American Express.

But the beauty of Kara Saun is that rather than bury her head in shame and disappear into old-reality -show-contestant oblivion, she embraced her inner Angeleno. She is, after all, a creature of the local celebrity culture that turns up at the drop of a swag bag filled with water and coupons.

These days Kara Saun is capitalizing on her inner ‘product placement queen’ on the second season of MTV’s ‘America’s Best Dance Crew.’

We caught up with Kara Saun backstage before a recent taping where she showed us a wardrobe closet chock full of free Nikes, Pumas, and Ed Hardy shirts and jackets. She’s been working her stylistic magic with the streetwear fashions seen on crews this season that range from glow-in-the-dark skeleton suits (Boogie Bots) to nasty British public school kids (Fanny Pak) and a leaning tower of ninjas (Super Cr3w).
