This isn’t about the Beijing Games, but the Vancouver Olympics are just around the corner, and figure skating is never out of style.
The Los Angeles Figure Skating Club, which has launched more than 100 national, world and Olympic medalists, will celebrate its 75th anniversary at Pickwick Ice Arena in Burbank at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Among the skaters scheduled to appear are 1979 world champions Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner, as well as current U.S. champions Keauna McLaughlin and Rockne Brubaker.
Southern Californian Linda Fratianne, the 1980 women’s Olympic silver medalist, and Debi Thomas, the 1988 bronze medalist also are scheduled to appear. The legendary Richard Dwyer -- ‘Mr. Debonair’ -- will present a special performance.
Tickets are $25 for children and $50 to $100 for adults, and can be purchased at www.lafsc.org, or by calling 866-668-7510.
