President Obama is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day by welcoming the visiting taoiseach -- or prime minister -- of Ireland in the Oval Office. It’s an annual tradition at the White House, although one that’s usually held in the Roosevelt Room.
The president will head to Capitol Hill at lunchtime for an address to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s ‘Friends of Ireland Luncheon.’’ Rep. Dennis Kucinich may well be the guest of honor at that event -- after switching his vote on the healthcare overhaul.
Finally, the president and First Lady Michelle Obama will host a St. Patrick’s Day reception in the East Room of the White House this evening.
