Two police officers credited with stopping last year’s shooting rampage at Ft. Hood will be guests of the first lady during Wednesday’s State of the Union speech.
Sgts. Kimberly Munley and Mark Todd will watch President Obama’s address with First Lady Michelle Obama in a gallery overlooking the House floor. On Nov. 5, the officers opened fire on Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who is accused of killing 13 people in the worst mass murder on the Army base in Texas. Munley was wounded in the incident.
According to witnesses, Hasan, a psychiatrist, walked into a processing center at Ft. Hood and opened fire with a pair of handguns. Hasan has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder.
