Black Friday: Glendale Galleria at 2 a.m.

The day after Thanksgiving, shoppers milled about the Glendale Galleria, coffee in hand and zombie-eyed.
Standard weekday afternoon? No, it’s 2 a.m.
Stores such as Anchor Blue and Aeropostale got the jump on Black Friday madness by opening just past midnight this morning.
Among the dazed crowds: Joshua Minor, 21, of Lake View Terrace and his two friends.
“We’re dreaming, man,” said the college student, who drove out to the mall at midnight. “We don’t know how much longer we’re gonna make it.’
Minor said he was scoping out new clothes, while his mother was in Northridge looking for a television.
“We’re trying to blow up our closets right now,” he said.
Meanwhile, a long line of hooded, shivering shoppers wrapped around the block outside Target, which was opening later in the morning.
Wilfredo Fuentes, 23, a student from San Gabriel, stood at the front, bobbing his head to the radio, trying to stay warm, fantasizing about the 40-inch flat-screen TV he planned to buy.
His friend Joe Gaspar, 18, of Echo Park had held the spot since 2 p.m. Standing on his skateboard, trying to stay awake to keep from losing his position, he talked almost longingly about his job locating and killing cockroaches at a frozen-food factory.
‘I’d rather be doing that right now,’ he said. ‘At least I’d get to walk around.’
