A good awards upset deserves a celebration, as the Weinstein Co. proved Sunday evening following the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Jean Dujardin of ‘The Artist’ nabbed the male actor in a lead role prize over George Clooney in ‘The Descendants,’ making for good spirits at Harvey Weinstein’s private dinner party on the patio of the Chateau Marmont.
Dujardin’s win was a highlight, but the party’s draw was the major nominated talent in attendance, including Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Michelle Williams and Bérénice Bejo. The ladies congregated over bubbly and toasted their respective work.
Flatbread, crab cakes and Dewar’s cocktails abounded as Streep rendered everyone starstruck -- including Guy Pearce and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who weren’t shy about being excited to meet her.
In her pink gown, Julie Bowen flitted near Williams and her pal Busy Philipps; Rose Byrne collected compliments on her Elie Saab pantsuit; and ‘Glee’ guy Chord Overstreet rubbed elbows with the likes of Rumer Willis.
Sofia Vergara, animated as always, posed with Dujardin for photos on her smartphone and enjoyed a long chat with him -- with what we imagine was massive help from the actor’s English translator.
