Perhaps it was the big ‘Modern Family’ sweep that had everyone on their best behavior: The 2011 Emmy Awards Governors Ball was one of the most efficient the Ministry has ever seen.
Host Jane Lynch was swept in just after 8:15 p.m., gliding from the Nokia Theatre to the Los Angeles Convention Center, where she screamed she was excited for ‘dinner time!’

Amy Poehler and husband Will Arnett came hand-in-hand for the black-and-white gala, which featured trippy color-blocked carpets and a touch of ‘Clockwork Orange’ face paint on service staff.
Harlequin dancers in checkered body suits performed for winners Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen, as well as their costars Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara.
We tried to shout out a compliment to Melissa McCarthy, who designed her own dress, but the winner for outstanding actress in a comedy was too inundated with well-wishers.
Kathy Griffin and Seth Meyers shared a chat outside around several golden trophies, while reality show host Heidi Klum sneaked in in a gorgeous flounced beige gown with floral detail. Husband Seal was her best accessory.
‘Glee’ didn’t make it to the main stage, but McKinley High students including Lea Michele, Dianna Agron and Chris Colfer munched on tomato salad and gabbed. As did most of the crowd -- it was a rarity to find bottoms in seats just after the telecast.
Although eyes were peeled for Kate Winslet, the best actress in a miniseries victor, her winning costar Guy Pearce did just fine accepting kudos from the HBO crowd. The big winners from ‘Mad Men’ stuck to themselves, as Jon Hamm, John Slattery and creator Matthew Weiner all conversed in tailored suits.

Christina Hendricks, curvy as ever, slipped gracefully in with Elizabeth Moss on her heels. And speaking of heels: Nominee Kristen Wiig of ‘Saturday Night Live’ had a partygoer nail the train of her brown silk gown with a stiletto heel. She smiled it off.
