There’s no denying Lindsay Lohan is sufficiently notorious that her first name is enough for most of the chattering public to know who they’re chattering about — and now the starlet is ready to shed her Lohan baggage and just be ‘Lindsay,’ her mom says.
At the same time the other Lohan ladies, Dina and Ali, intend to change their surnames to Mom’s maiden name, Sullivan, the once-and-future Dina Sullivan told PopEater on Friday.
After comparing Lindsay to Oprah and Beyonce, a family friend invoked the specter of Michael Lohan, calling the name change ‘a way for them all to start over. No one in the family want anything to do with Lindsay’s father anymore, and that includes sharing a last name.’
Ouch.
No mention was made of what might happen to the last names of Lilo’s younger brothers Michael Jr. and Cody.
Papa Lohan might have more to worry about right now. He was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence Wednesday after being arrested Monday on suspicion of assault. Though police didn’t release the alleged victim’s name, Lohan ex-fiancee Kate Major told RadarOnline on Tuesday that she’d been pushed and shoved. ‘I didn’t touch her,’ Lohan told Radar.
Major (who for a while dated Jon Gosselin) filed a police report against her then fiance in July, alleging that he’d shoved her over a chair and kicked her during an argument. The charges were dropped in August at Major’s request.
Meanwhile, attorney Shawn Chapman Holley told prosecutors Wednesday that Lindsay — see, that works, just the one name? — wouldn’t accept a plea deal regarding the grand theft charge she faces for allegedly taking a necklace from a Venice boutique.
‘Though many advised her to follow the safe route by taking ‘the deal,’ the truth is, Ms. Lohan is innocent,’ Holley said in a statement obtained by L.A. Now. ‘[S]he has a strong defense; and we are confident that a jury will listen to the evidence fairly and acquit her.’ A preliminary hearing will be held April 22.
