Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez and the cast of ‘Battle: Los Angeles’ invaded the Village Theater in Westwood on Tuesday to premiere their apocalyptic sci-fi flick.
The film, which opens Friday, is the latest installment in the alien invasion genre. This time, a band of Marines led by Eckhart battles extraterrestrials in an effort to save the City of Angels -- the last of the world’s major cities not in the aliens’ clutches. Fun fact: Except for scenes at Camp Pendleton and Santa Monica, 90% of the movie was filmed in Louisiana.
But we have to say, it’s refreshing to see Rodriguez, one of Hollywood’s persistent tomboy actresses, all gussied up for a change. We’re loving her one-shouldered gown and statement necklace.
Bridget Moynahan of ‘Blue Bloods,’ who plays the damsel in distress in ‘Battle: Los Angeles,’ also got dolled up to hit the black carpet for the Jonathan Liebesman-directed film.
Other Marine-playing, black-carpet invaders: ‘The Wire’s’ Ramon Rodriguez, ‘True Blood’s’ Jim Parrack, ‘The Vampire Diaries’ ’ Gino Pesi, ‘X-Men: First Class’ ’ Lucas Till and ‘Gran Torino’s’ Cory Hardrict.
R&B singer Ne-Yo, who plays a corporal and appears on the big screen for the first time since 2007’s ‘Stomp the Yard,’ was accompanied by castmates Michael Pena of ‘Eastbound & Down,’Taylor Handley of ‘Southland’ and Adetokumboh M’Cormack of ‘Heroes.’
Rodriguez’s ‘Machete’ co-star Cheech Marin and his wife, Natasha Rubin, also attended.
