Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Pomona that left one woman dead, authorities said Sunday.
Members of a multi-jurisdictional gang task force were driving through a parking lot in the 900 block of West Holt Avenue about 9:45 p.m. Saturday when they were confronted by a female suspect brandishing a handgun, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Rich Pena.
A shooting took place and the suspect was later pronounced dead at the scene, Pena said. No officers were injured. A handgun was recovered at the scene.
Although the Sheriff’s Department is assisting Pomona police in the investigation, it was not clear if it was a Pomona officer who shot the suspect. The gang task force was made up of several agencies.
