The suspects snapped their own mug shots.
Clovis police recovered a missing iPad after 17 photos of the theft suspects and their family were downloaded to the owner’s iCloud account.
‘They were happy go-lucky, here-take-my-picture in the photos,’ said Ty Wood, a police service officer who oversees social networking. ‘Sometimes it really helps us when criminals don’t think.’
A week after the Feb. 18 theft at a Clovis Costco, the victim scrolled through photos on her phone and saw people she didn’t recognize.
After police released three head shots, the suspects returned the iPad, saying they had not noticed it in their cart and didn’t know how it got there.
One woman was charged with misappropriation of property.
