Two men and a minor face disturbance charges connected with their alleged roles in a brawl that led to widespread panic at a Sacramento shopping mall, police said.
Police arrested Dremon O’Deal, 19, and Louis Santiago, 18, on suspicion of fighting in a public place. The minor, who is also a teen, faces similar charges, Fox40 in Sacramento reported. The three were involved in a large fight Wednesday evening in the food court at the Arden Fair mall, police said. The fight led to a large sign falling, causing a noise that many thought sounded like gunfire.
In light of recent shootings and gun scares around the country, many shoppers panicked and ran for their lives. The mall was locked down for about an hour until officers could control the situation.
