A man was killed Monday afternoon when struck by an Amtrak train in San Clemente, authorities said.
It’s unclear if the case was a suicide or an accident, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Dan Dwyer.
The 54-year-old man’s name had not been released. His car was found parked in a nearby lot, Dwyer said.
The train was not damaged but the line was shut down for several hours after the incident, which occurred about 4:30 p.m.
There were witnesses, and an investigation is underway.
