Planning a Halloween bash at the last minute? Have no fear. If it’s cheap and cheerful -- and plastic -- it’s probably at the 99 Cents Only store. Not always known for sophisticated designs, the chain scores with these entertaining accessories.

The crow plate, one of several designs including cats and bats, is large enough for finger sandwiches. It’s next to a 10-inch-square four-section tray with illustrations of a witch, raven, scaredy cat and skeleton, all just screaming to be filled with candy corn.

Holiday decorators, take note: Purple seems to be making a bid to become an official Halloween color. The 9-by-12-inch spiderweb tray is nestled inside a black tray with handles. The floating eyeballs have flashing red lights to make them look even more bloodshot.

The whole haul shown here, which was purchased yesterday at the Silver Lake store, 3600 W. Sunset Blvd., came to a not-so-scary $6.58, including tax. Find a nearby 99 Cents Only store here.
