You’re killing me, Eric! Like Larry Miller at Sit ‘n Sleep, chef Eric Greenspan at the Foundry on Melrose is now guaranteeing that if you don’t like your meal, your next visit is freeeee. So confident is Greenspan in his culinary prowess that, if for any reason you are dissatisfied with your meal, he’ll give you a gift certificate for the price of the meal (excluding alcohol and gratuity -- how can you be unhappy with your alcohol?). As I type this I’m imagining a host of professional shysters converging on the place, already grumpy and determined to hate their cider-marinated skirt steak. Opportunists, this one’s for you! 7465 Melrose Ave., L.A. (323) 651-0915. thefoundryonmelrose.com
John Sedlar’s Rivera officially opens today: We’ve been keeping an eye on this buzz-worthy new Latin food restaurant in downtown’s ritzy Met Lofts, and its moment in the sun has finally arrived. On the menu you’ll find tamales, rich mole, ceviche and much more. 1050 S. Flower St., L.A. (213) 749-1460. www.riverarestaurant.com
It’s a twofer: Breeze restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza is offering what it’s calling a ‘culinary bailout’ to hungry unfortunates in the form of two-for-one weekend suppers. You read right, every Saturday and Sunday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. diners get two dinners (from chef Manfred Lassahn’s new Breeze market dinner menu) for the price of one. Eating early never sounded so good. 2025 Avenue of the Stars, Century City. (310) 551-3334. www.centuryplaza.hyatt.com
An evening of Indian delights: Royal Khyber Fine Indian Cuisine is warming film buffs’ hearts by offering a special package through Feb. 28, featuring a three-course dinner and a ticket to the hit film ‘Slumdog Millionaire,’ for under $30. Royal Khyber is located in South Coast Plaza, and the film (which is sure to leave you teary-eyed and extra in love with your date) is showing at neighboring Regency Theatre. You can watch the movie before or after dinner, which is served from 5:30 to 9:30 during the week, and until 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Valentine’s Day is excluded. 1621 W. Sunflower Ave., South Coast Plaza Village, Costa Mesa. (714) 436-1010. www.royalkhyber.com
