Lady Gaga prefers show-stopping looks from avant-garde designers such as the late Alexander McQueen, but now the chanteuse is collaborating with the wee-bit-more conservative Giorgio Armani on outfits for The Monster Ball Tour, which is headed off to Japan after kicking off in Manchester, Britain, on Feb. 18.
Recently, Armani is probably best known for his Armani Privé couture collection and red-carpet looks for actresses Penelope Cruz and Anne Hathaway.
Armani created four sparkly pieces for Gaga, including two bodysuits, one with a curved-shoulder and one featuring a lobster sleeve; a geometric mirrored mini-dress; a black patent leather trench; and, of course, the singer’s trademark sunglasses.
The septuagenarian Armani is big fan of the Lady, with whom he already collaborated on outfits for January’s Grammy Awards.
‘We hear Lady Gaga’s music everywhere we go, it is like a soundtrack of our times,” Armani said. “In addition to her formidable songwriting skills, she is a modern fashion phenomenon.’
