Irving Ravetch, who co-wrote ‘Hud’ and ‘Norma Rae,’ dies at 89

Irving Ravetch, who collaborated with his wife, Harriet Frank Jr., on such screenplays as ‘Hud’ and ‘Norma Rae,’ died Sunday at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after a lingering illness, according to publicist Nicole Bamber. He was 89.
The husband and wife became writing partners on the 1958 film ‘The Long, Hot Summer’ and received Academy Award nominations for ‘Hud’ and ‘Norma Rae.’ They had a long association with late director Martin Ritt.
Ravetch was born in Newark, N.J., on Nov. 14, 1920. He met his wife when they were working at MGM.
